CUHW is a statewide labor organization representing over 20,000 home care workers within California’s IHSS program in 25 counties. We have fought to secure and improve the social, economic and political conditions of those who provide care for California’s most vulnerable population, the elderly and persons living with disabilities. Our local offices have won wage increases and medical benefits for home care providers throughout California.

Mission Statement:

In order to form a strong and democratic structure in which to organize and unite California homecare providers, California United Home Care Workers, hereafter referred to as CUHW, is dedicated to protecting the In-Home Supportive Services Program, the homecare providers who make this lifelong process possible, and the hundreds of thousands of California seniors and people living with disabilities that rely on homecare for their most basic daily needs. This local union has been established by the Service Employee International Union (hereinafter “SEIU”) and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (hereinafter “AFSCME”) in accordance with each International Union’s respective Constitution and By-Laws.
